Elevate Education Quality through LMS
It is the society’s conscientiousness to establish the importance of education in its citizen’s development. Each person is entitled to a quality education that will equip him for his future and the future of his society.
A good education from the start translates to the success of a man. Since the society is tied with providing with quality education, it should ensure that all its members are granted one. After all it is the same entity—the society—that will benefit from the fruits of what it cultivated.
The society has the greatest influence to its citizens in terms of education. Man succeeds in the development of his personal being and his society because of the quality of education he is backed up with.
To-date, racial discrimination still exists particularly in public schools hence, this has become one of the issues of quality of education. As popularly known, the “victims” of discrimination are the African Americans. Sadly, it is not only the students in the minority group who encounter discrimination at school, even the educators are being singled out. When members of the academic institution are not fairly treated by the administration, then this where the education problem starts.
American public education suffers because of the long-time overdue crises such as racial discrimination. Public schools which do not implement sincere fairness in the system are the ones who, most likely, worsen the problem of discrimination. Ironically, the academic institutions, which are supposed to inculcate good morals, are guilty of unfair treatment among its constituents. Apparently not only the students who belong to the minority group such as the African American race who are prejudiced, the same minority group of educators are also singled out in their own academic institution.
One of the common public school problems in the United States today is racial discrimination. The minority groups such as the African American race are inferior of the white Americans. Incidentally, it is not only the non-white students who experience discrimination at school, even the educators are prejudiced. This crisis has been crippling the quality of education in public schools because it is not seriously condemned.
African American students do not excel in the academic undertakings because they feel inferior about their race. It becomes automatic to students’ perception that non-white races are weak and are not entitled to the rights they are exercising. In effect, minority students, for the longest time, are hesitant to spread their wings—just until America elected for the first black president. Studies in the past have shown the equal performance level of both white and non-white students when tests were done out of school. Public-schooled students performed significantly different from each other, non-whites garnering lower scores than the whites. These test results simply show that discrimination principally impedes the learning opportunities of students belonging to the minority group.
Based on studies results in the past, African American students and those who belong to the minority group did not excel in academics as the effect of discrimination in the campus. Discrimination locked minority students in their shell until the victory of the first black president. White and non-white students achieved almost equal score on a tests administered at their respective homes. Surprisingly, after administration of the same tests in the public school, non-white students yielded lower results than white students. Evidently, the learning atmosphere has got a lot to do about the performance of students.
Fear of being humiliated and rejected is the root of the diffidence of minority students in school. The shyness of the minority students has pulled their confidence level down. Speaking their minds out means a possibility of being mocked, laughed at, and rejected; hence they stay inferior. In a past study conducted to assess the success performance of home-schooled students, it was found out that minority students played equally well with the whites. In the public school set-up, the performance of the whites outweighed that of the minority. This goes to show that the environment for learning has a significant impact and influence on students; and discrimination plays a crucial role.
In the same line, educators who belong to the minority group experience being prejudiced specifically in employment when they are being retrenched. (Un)intentionally, the present administration’s turnaround plan in public education “streamlined” the African American veteran educators, but surprisingly replaced them with younger whites.
Discrimination is not only true for students; even African American educators also get rejected, humiliated and discriminated. A group of veteran educators in Chicago was removed from work because of the administration’s turnaround plan in public schools. Incidentally, white American teachers were their replacement whose stint in the profession was at the novice level.
Further, racial discrimination does not only pound the students, but even the educators or teachers, who are African American or belong to the minority group, have to live with it. In a recent incident, Chicago public school terminated non-white educators. White American teachers who were much younger than them took over their positions.
How can the public school administrators handle this issue of racial discrimination?
This years standing racial issue can still be eradicated.
For the longest time, one would think if there’s ever hope for the minority groups in the academic institutions.
The best way to dart the problem head on is adopting a learning management system or LMS. The software, the LMS, is web-based where school administrators can track, monitor and manage education and training. The LMS can make administrative works a lot easier such as materials sharing, record-keeping, etc. How can LMS resolve discrimination in school? LMS is web-based, hence, students no longer need to go to the classroom physically to attend to class. Therefore, there is slimmer chance of bullying incidents on non-white students at school. The LMS will encourage every student from any race to express his opinions and insights through online discussions without the fear of rejection. Similarly, since the LMS is a center for development course work of educators, the teachers themselves do not have to be apprehensive about their age, colour, or the like. The school will be cautious about keeping competent educators regardless of race. Finally, since an LMS can measure the performance of each student based on inputs, this ensures students and parents as well that equal treatment is prevailing in gaining merits. Because of the objectivity of LMS, it is assumed that biases in the grading system will not happen.
Absolutely, public school administrators can adopt a learning management system, software, which will help them monitor, assess, track, and manage academic and administrative tasks. Going to school physically will no longer be a concern for both parents and students when an LMS is adopted because it is virtual learning. Hence, chances of being rejected in public will be lessened since interaction of students will only be online. Students of the minority races will no longer be anxious about their skin colour and most likely boost their confidence through online discussions. Development of course work will be at optimum since the educators will be able to focus on the training materials and manuals. Since peace of mind among minority educators is already established, better training materials will be produced, benefiting the learners. LMS can also measure the actual academic performance of each student in a class. The LMS promotes equality in terms of providing the objective measurement of each student’s performance, unlike in a classroom set-up. Since the grading system will primarily be based on the inputs of the students, then it is assured that all efforts are accounted for.
There certainly is. Public school administrators who really want to eliminate and abandon racial discrimination must adopt a learning management system. Web-based software, LMS helps monitor, track, and manage training and education requirements of schools. As set up online, LMS uses virtual learning to educate the students in a manner entirely different from the classroom—but the academic lessons are the same or could me more comprehensive and intensive. The LMS has various capabilities that will definitely bring many benefits to schools. There are numerous capabilities that an LMS can provide the schools such as administrative and academic requirements. Through virtual technology, the LMS will encourage faster learning pacing of students. More than the academic requirements, students will develop their sense of responsibility and belongingness in the online group—instead of rejecting each other. Instead of physically going to school, the student will be able to attend classes and gain training online. The self confidence and esteem of minority students will be boosted through online discussions. Similarly, the teachers who are African American will no longer worry about their age—and race—since the focus of learning is made online. Since the LMS can measure the actual academic performance of every student, then students, and parents are assured of fair treatment among the students. Fairness in judgment is expected to dominate in the public education arena.
The students will not only acquire knowledge about academic lessons, but will also be moulded into men and women for others. Since online discussions and trainings no longer require physical presence in the classroom, students will learn to manage their own academic undertakings based on priority. Public schools can take advantage of what captures the interest of this generation of technology integrating learning with quality through an LMS.
This tech-savvy generation should be able to appreciate learning more through a learning management system. It is expected that the school gets to capture the interest of its students through the LMS. The LMS brings a lot of benefits to the members of the school and the school itself. Learning management system can uplift the quality of education in the United States.
Racial discrimination can be eradicated by using a learning management system. This is just the first step to regaining the genuine quality of education in the country. The society, in general will be the direct beneficiary of the results generated from adopting a learning management system in public schools.
